Horizon Europe Info Day at Gori State University
On 17 September, Gori State University hosted the “Regional Science Festival 2026!”
As part of the festival, the Horizon Europe National Office of Georgia introduced the university's academic staff and researchers to current and upcoming opportunities under the programme.
The meeting was opened with welcoming remarks by Levan Khetsuriani, Head of the National Office. He emphasized the role of the Horizon Europe programme, the support of the National Office, and the importance of Gori State University's involvement in European grant projects.
During the information session, National Contact Points presented the following opportunities to the audience:
🔹 WIDERA (Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area): Nino Rodonaia introduced the 2026–2027 calls, core requirements, and priorities of the Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area strand. She also highlighted the importance of applicant participation in matchmaking events.
🔹 Innovative Europe: Ana Goletiani presented the current year's challenges, funding pathways, and prospects for developing innovative ecosystems. She reviewed three distinct and complementary instruments under this direction:
• EIC (European Innovation Council)
• EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology)
• EIE (European Innovation Ecosystems)
The session was held in an interactive format – participants received answers to their questions, including those related to the preparation of grant applications, joining international networks, and support mechanisms for innovative projects.
