February 11 –International Day of Women and Girls in Science
To honor the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, an award ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. Additionally, the event was also celebrated at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia.
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia and the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia awarded 10 outstanding female scientists and young female inventors for their exceptional contributions to science. Among them were the national contact points of Horizon Europe—Ana Goletiani, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, and Ekaterine Sanaia, Doctor of Physical Sciences, Professor—who have significantly contributed to the advancement of chemistry and physics through their remarkable scientific achievements.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science has been celebrated since 2015, based on a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly. Its purpose is to support women interested in science and strengthen their role in the fields of science, innovation, and technology.
