Georgian National Academy of Sciences

On October 2–3, 2025, the Georgian National Academy of Sciences hosted an international conference entitled “Education and Science in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Innovations, Research, and International Cooperation". The event was jointly organized by the Georgian National Academy of Sciences and the “Horizon Europe” National Office of Georgia.

The conference was held in a hybrid format and brought together both Georgian and international scholars, as well as policymakers and innovators in the fields of education and science from Europe and Georgia. The main objective of the event was to explore the practical and strategic implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on educational systems, scientific research, and institutional development processes.

Welcome addresses were delivered by: Roin Metreveli, President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences; Givi Mikanadze, Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia; Mariam Lashkhi, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, and Youth Affairs; Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth; Ramaz Khurodze, Vice-President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences and Academician; Ketevan Kokrashvili, Head of the Science Department at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth; Levan Khetsuriani, Head of the “Horizon Europe” National Office of Georgia; Jan Alexandersson – German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI); Andrey Girenko – German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI); Vladimir Norov – Chairman, Central Asian Association for Artificial Intelligence;

The first day of the conference was dedicated to the strategic visions of universities, with presentations delivered by international experts, ongoing projects, and Georgian academic reports. The second day of the conference was devoted to showcasing local research and innovations related to the application of AI in education and science. The presentations, discussions, and project demonstrations significantly enriched both national and international knowledge exchange.
