Horizon Europe Information Day at Kutaisi International University

On 5 March, Kutaisi International University hosted a Horizon Europe Information Day.

During the meeting, National Contact Points from the Horizon Europe National Office of Georgia introduced the university’s academic and innovation community to the funding opportunities available within the programme.

Ana Goletiani spoke about opportunities for the development and commercialisation of innovative ideas in science and technology within the framework of Horizon Europe’s Third Pillar. She also introduced the audience to the New European Bauhaus initiative, which combines sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusiveness to promote the creation of human-centered environments

Nino Rodonaia presented the WIDERA programme, a horizontal pillar of Horizon Europe designed to widen participation and strengthen the European Research Area (ERA). By reforming and improving research and innovation systems, WIDERA is integrated across all pillars, primarily offering Coordination and Support Actions (CSA). Within its Widening component, widening countries must serve as consortium coordinators to foster institutional development, create talent-friendly environments, and promote ERA principles

Teona Maisuradze introduced the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) under the First Pillar. She detailed how Postdoctoral Fellowships, Doctoral Networks, and Staff Exchanges support researchers in developing skills, professional networks, and research potential

Shorena Beridze presented the legal and financial aspects of Horizon Europe projects. In addition to general funding issues, the presentation covered the three main grant agreement models and key budgeting principles.

Gaining insight into these funding opportunities will help Kutaisi International University increase its engagement in international research and innovation projects.
